Spring Assessments

Dear 6th Grade Families,

Beginning this week, your student will be taking the Smarter Balanced Assessments in English Language Arts (reading and writing) as well as math. This new Common Core aligned assessment will officially replace the MSP next school year. This year, our district is getting a sneak peak of the test layout by participating in a field study for the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium. Here is a list of our class’ testing dates:

Tuesday, April 14^th – ELA

Tuesday, April 22^nd – ELA

Wednesday, April 23^rd- ELA

Tuesday, May 13^th – Math

Tuesday, May 20^th- Math

Although this is a field test, therefore no official scores will be produced, I urge you to give as much encouragement and support to your students as possible. I expect the 6^th graders to give their absolute best effort and take this assessment very seriously. It will be very important for your child to get plenty of sleep, especially the night before testing. Also, don’t forget a healthy breakfast!
