Fifty Nifty United States....and Capitals

The 6th graders are working so hard to memorize the states, how they are spelled, and their abbreviations. Some 6th graders are choosing to go above and beyond and learn the capitals too! We've been thinking of fun ways to learn and practice our states and well, we came up with this....

6th grade parents, I'm sorry if they have it stuck in their head and if they're singing it all around the house! I promise, it's to help them!! It's stuck in my head too if that makes you feel any better.

For those students who are attempting to learn the states AND capitals, we found this funny video. I tried to explain to the kids that the Animaniacs were the popular cartoon characters from my childhood :)

We are testing on 40 states THIS FRIDAY and will more than likely doing all 50 states on Friday, October 11th. After that, we'll broaden our horizons and focus on geography of the world!!
